Thomas DiPrete, professor of sociology at Columbia University, will speak on “Peers and the Gender Gap in Educational Achievement.” DiPrete is co-director of the Center for the Study of Wealth and Inequality. He has published widely on the institutional determinants of trends in the process of status attainment. Among other areas, his research also concerns the socioeconomic life course—how it is affected by welfare state policies, labor market structure, and family dynamics.
